A new 12,000 gallon modular-style build Koi super-system

Update 20/04/12

The main excavation for this system commences on 23rd. April by Tinsley’s Landscapes based in Southport. On completion of the pond excavation and build, Tinsley’s have also been contracted to carry out the final landscaping to the entire surrounds.

Tinsley Landscapes

The finished pond will hold six feet of water which means the excavation needs to be finished to a flat base seven feet below final water level in order to allow for the two six-inch thick concrete bases.

When the flat earth base has been excavated it will then be packed down with hardcore so that Ian Miles can connect all the 2” pipelines from the two surfaces skimmers and four return lines to the pond from the Eric Three units. These lines will be laid directly onto the hardcore and connected throughout with 2” long radius bends.

After this, the re-bar will be laid in place and then the first six-inch concrete base can be cast to encase all the 2” pipelines thus allowing us a perfect base to site the four main diffuser bottom drains, the four-inch pipelines and the one-inch air supply lines.

At the same time the first pond base is poured, the base for the filter units and the equipment housing can be cast.

Everything required for this is already on site.

Things should move forward pretty quickly from the 23rd. I will keep updating this blog with new pictures and information as the installation progresses – please keep checking back.
