Update 14/06/12
At last – it’s all beginning to come together!
These first shots were taken yesterday and the contractors have rendered the pond perfectly.
Three pond wall lights will shine away from the patio side and this effect will illuminate the entire pond perfectly without dazzling the viewers.
Have to admit it was a struggle getting the filters from the garage alone and then placing them neatly into position.
The space at the end of the concrete base is for the equipment housing.
Anyway I’m going back now to do some more work and take some more shots to be added to this update on my return.
Personally I’m hoping that Ian Miles will turn up today and give me a bit of assistance!
Well he did turn up but…..
I don’t mind telling you I got annoyed and started taking it out on some 4” tube.
Seriously though, on this pond there will be a skimmer in the centre of each of the two end walls and the owner doesn’t like the thought of it sticking out behind the walls. He much prefers them to be housed inside the wall themselves.
These stainless steel boxes have been made to accommodate the standard skimmers and by the time they have been ‘trimmed’ – very little of the white plastic will be visible.
It’s far easier to explain this by pictures once the units have been installed.
The Messner pumps that will drive the filters are being prepared for final testing but nothing will be solvent-welded until we know levels are perfect.
There is much more to do in this trench before it can be filled and brought to patio level.
When it is completed the patio level will be the same as the base level for the filters.
The plan was to commence glass fibre lamination on Monday the 18th June but this may have to be postponed until the render has dried completely.
More soon and thanks for looking.
Waddy.
