If there is ample Bio Film that forms inside a filter – and it can be seen visually.

This indicates that the filter is performing superbly – simply because the flow-pattern of the water is constantly in contact with all the media surfaces.

The shots shown below were taken today and clearly show the sheer amount of Bio Film that clad the clear walls and the base of my Eric Four filter.

Once established, the film continues to ‘thicken’ and soon becomes yet another welcome surface for bacterial activity to cling to and multiply.

Just another example as to why Eric filter systems consistently produce what I term to be ‘Koi Water’.
