Eric Pond Filters have been available for just over five years now and I reckon that there are very few parts of the world today where they are not in daily use.
However, few items are ever 100% perfect and it makes sense that improvements can be made to all?
Here is a clear, prototype model of a pump-fed Compact Eric Filter that’s been under test, on my indoor tank, for the past 24 hours only.
I’m pumping 350gph through the filter so the flow-rate is high and takes only 90-minutes for the entire pond volume to pass through the 12.5-gallon filter.
The idea behind the upgrade is to settle out 80% of the incoming pond debris before it gets to the brush box – and then be able to dispose of it all to waste quickly and simply by a brief turn of a valve.
As mentioned, what you see on the video is not a full filter clean-out, it’s more of a ‘dusting’?
However, I believe that if it’s ‘dusted’ regularly, there’s no real need to do a full filter clean-out!
This upgrade will significantly increase the intervals required between cleaning the filters.
(There are adjustments still to be made to the inlet baffle and the depth of upgrade part can also be reduced by almost 50% – but this is only fine tuning learned through testing).
Furthermore, the manual waste valves can be automated very easily and economically by the addition of 1.5″ or 2.0″ electrically actuated ball valves.
Once again, this upgrade will be added to all Eric models both gravity-fed and pump-fed.
The best pond filter system that money can buy is now even BETTER!
